Leir Design, Inc.

How We Work

During the entire web development process, we typically meet with a client two or three times.

  • First is an initial consultation where we talk over goals, design, dreams, timeline, costs. We keep in touch with you via email as the design and development process goes on.
  • Next, we meet in person or over the phone for an initial design review.
  • After your website goes live, we meet with you for a one-hour training session so you can get to know your new site and our content management system.

Design Review = Usability Testing

When we show you your new website, we put you in the driver’s seat. There’s not a formal presentation- we want you to get right into using your site. This benefits the project in two ways- first, you get to play with your site right away. Second, we get to do some informal usability testing- What are you clicking on? What are you missing? What are you drawn to? We make design changes before launching based on what we see during your first experience using the site.

Content Is Up To You (Unless…)

You will provide Leir Design with all of the graphics, photos and text for your website. This includes your company logo, unless you are hiring us to design your logo, too.

We can arrange, for a fee, to assist with developing content. This includes copy writing, photography and image research.

Momentum

Once the project begins, we like to keep the momentum going, and having the content ready and available is the best way you can ensure a speedy website development process. If your content isn’t ready, that may change the timeline of the entire project, as Leir Design honors other commitments.

Most project delays occur when clients are gathering or developing content, such as text and images, for their website. Please try to have all content available in an electronic format for Leir Design before the project begins.

On that note, when we complete the design and development of the website, we’ll invoice you within two weeks of completion, whether or not your content is finalized. We will still honor all parts of our contract, and will wait for your approval before making site "live".

Training

We will spend an hour with you, training you on how to use our content management system. It’s really easy to use, and we’ve found that after an hour, most clients feel really comfortable updating and changing the content of their sites.

Content Updates and Changes

After your training, content changes are up to you. We will support you as you learn, answer questions via email or phone, and help as you try new things. But once you have been trained, content changes and additions are your responsibility.
